The opener of our new article series is an interview with one of the Webix users, a programmer Valeriy Kuznetsov. He develops digital solutions for both leading agricultural companies and small enterprises.

Webix allowed Valeriy to create an effective cloud tool for software development within a short time. The system is called WizXpert. This solution combines back-end, front-end, and hybrid mobile app development. The system’s interface is Webix-based.

The initial task

My objective was to design and implement a simple application allowing me to manage my freelance business. The application is called iFact and is available on github. The basic activity consists in getting contracts with clients, performing the work or service and invoicing the client. Also, I needed to manage the invoice flow and to have a minimal dashboard for cash flow control. The volume of invoices is low: from one to a couple of invoices per month. The number of clients and contracts per client is low, it means 5 to 10 clients with 1-3 contracts per client, normally one single contract active at any given moment in time.

“Curvas (Spanish for “curves”) is a tool for data analysis and business modeling intended to be used in such spheres as agricultural insurance and risk management. It was prepared as a part of my independent consulting services for a local company which was developing a new product in this field.

I was using Webix for another application, and I felt it was the natural way to go with this one, in which good user interaction and charting are key features.

For years, the product has been a client-server solution with an Excel add-in and workbooks communicating to a back-end SQL Server instance, and it is still widely used and actively soldpurchased today.
