Webix 9.3: Emoji for Chat, new charts for Pivot and SpreadSheet, Scheduler updates

The Webix team is ready to present you with the 9.3 version of the Webix library. Our first major update of 2022 includes emoji and reactions for Chat, new types of sparklines, copying & pasting via shortcuts for Scheduler, and many more. Read further to dive into all the upcoming changes.

Chat updates

To help you express your emotions when chatting with friends or coworkers, we added emoji support to the Chat. Now you can add them to messages as a convenient way to express yourselves.

Besides using the emoji in messages, you can also react with emoji to incoming messages.

Pivot updates

The Pivot widget was boosted by four chart types. These updates will help you show and compare various types of data within one chart.
It is about the following types:

  • barH
  • barH

  • stackedArea
  • stackedArea

  • stackedBar
  • stackedBar

  • stackedBarH
  • stackedBarH

In the Tree and Table modes from now on there is an ability to add extra columns with total values. You can show them for all values/data or for sums only.

Scheduler updates

Now you can add new events to the Scheduler workspace using drag-and-drop. All you need to do is just click on the empty space, move the cursor down and release it. By doing this, you set the start time and duration of the event at once.

Another highly anticipated feature is the ability to copy & paste events using familiar hotkeys (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V). Besides using the shortcuts, you can also copy the needed event by pressing the “Сtrl” button and dragging the event.

SpreadSheet updates

Chart types

Not only Pivot, but SpreadSheet also got new chart types, namely:

  • barH
  • stackedBarH

Sparklines

We boosted the widget with a couple of new sparkline types to help you visualize data more accurate:

  • barH
  • donut
  • radar

The above-mentioned types are also available for some widgets of Webix core.

Formatting and styling

From now on, users can apply strikethrough styling to their texts. We also added the ability to indent the contents of the cell so that it can be moved away from the left/right border.
Another noticeable update of this section is that you will be able to show formulas in cells instead of values.

Copying, cutting and pasting

One of the most long-awaited features is the ability to cut, copy, and paste data via the context menu. Besides performing basic operations, you can also use a special paste. It means the ability to paste only specific elements of the copied cells.

Report Manager updates

The Report Manager got a new feature to make it easier to read the report and discover patterns in the data. If you want to create custom categories (groups) for values (e.g “Drinks” instead of “black tea”, “espresso” and “green tea”), just include them into the data bucket.
